Specimen hunting trips
These trips are for those anglers that want to try and catch something truly special! these trips aren’t aimed at numbers of fish we are after quality and hopefully species over 100% on the specimen scale. We actively steer away form areas that hold quantities of fish or employee tactics to try and angle out the larger specimens. Everything has to be spot on when specimen hunting, the bait, the tackle, your knots, and the anglers skill. Check out Combe Martin angling club for the local specimen weights and records.
Specimen hunting trips don’t have to be for the really big predators.
All fish species have a specimen rating whether its Red mullet or a giant Porbeagle or thresher Shark weighing considerably more than the angler attached to them.
Conservation and fish protection
Sharks are never brought aboard the boat so please dont ask us to. The only time we may have a shark aboard is if its wrapped or tangled. We promote catch and release and when specimen fishing we want to see all large specimens swim away healthy and strong. Long gone are the days of taking big fish back to the scales we handle them with care take photos and get them back in the water as soon as possible.
Shark trips
We only offer full boat bookings for shark fishing trips. these trips can be booked via our booking website. if there’s a date that you would like to go but cant see it on our booking site please give us a call as we maybe able to accommodate this by moving things around. We supply all tackle bait and equipment for shark fishing everything is included in the price.
Specimen Tope trips
Catching a tope over 50lb is a great achievement think of it as a bronze medal in the Olympics, a tope over 60lb is the equivalent of a silver and a tope over 70lb is without doubt a gold medal i know of less than 5 confirmed tope over 70lb being caught off north Devon and one of them is in the photo below. hopefully we can land a few of these fantastic beasts over the next season.
